Also, I will recommend going Leather and of course staff and bow (no need to switch between weapons as you can wield both :) )

I just tried it, well only level 12. I was dueling other classes at that level such as darkrunners, daggerspells, and other populars and own against them easily. Its pretty CC in the beginning and gets better later levels. Im thinking going cloth though for more magic dmg.
