Introduction
So my name is Bootydestroyer, i play on Shatigon EU server and have been playing the game for only 2 months or so. I made this guide for myself to remember what spells i have to use. With the mass amount of views i got i decided to change the "(Only Skill Points)" title to a guide with some text and information for you guys. The spells i use here are for me the best. This class is a very hard class which isn't meta at all. So don't expect to get very ovberpowered or anything. Don't forget to THUMBS UP this guide if you liked it. It would help me out a lot and keeps me motivated to make more amazing guides for you guys! Feel free to ask any questions about the guide, i will try to answer as soon as possible.Spells
For anyone who've seen this guide before and thought by himself: "what is this crap", the build i used back then was only for farming so i decided to change it to a PvP guide because people actually were clicking on this guide.Lets start with archery:
Many of the archery skills are a must on every archery class that's why i won't put a lot of information next to them.
Every archer has this, an easy spell which can be used in between for a nice slow and some extra damage which also has a combo with a lot of other spells.
Combo with
If you don't have this as a archer you're doing the wrong thing as this is the ability which makes archers viable.
A nice damage buff for 30 min, don't forget to reactivate whenever it's not on.
Crowd control for pesky melee classes like Darkrunner, Bladedancer Etc.
Very nice aoe spell which also shackles anyone near the target. Very nice versus mages who you can interrupt when they use any ability.
In PvP this is a game changing ability since you will be immune to fear for a short time. Don't forget that this isn't a damage dealing class like Primeval or Stone Arrow, you're a Hex Ranger which is more like a support archer because of the many buffs you can give and the crowd control you can use on the enemy.
To keep you mobile.
Having a chance to dodge abilities is always nice as a support.
Very nice permamnent range buff.
I will talk about this later on in the Gear section, but it already gives a nice permananet critical damage and chance increase.
Gives the whole archery tree a damage boost
Second is Songcraft:
A nice stun for engaging enemies like Abolishers or Skullknights, also has many combos which i will talk about later on.
Since you're an support type archer this spell is a must in PvP since you will be able to give your backline existing out of archers and mages a movement speed boost to help them kite.
A defense boost for your backline.
This is a must as a Hex Ranger, because you won't be the one dealing a ton of damage you must have this spell to increase the damage for your mages and especially the archers.
This will help , and to play an extra 15 seconds longer so you don't have to spam your abilites and waste mana sine mana is a huge issue with this class.
Last is Witchcraft:
Used to catch out of position archers and mages but can also be used on escaping targets. Overal a nice spell when you also have
A must on this class because it increases the duration of stuns and trips which are the most used crowd control in PvP. Use this on high priority targets which are close to the healers so that they receive less healing.
This is for any melee class that gets to close to your archers and mages.
Use this on any of your engagers to increase their magic defense since they will receive a lot of damage. Can be used on enemies as well to silence them while they are shackled by something like
A 9 sec cooldown immunity to sleep and fear for 60 sec to you and any ally you give it to. This is amazing against darkrunners and especially shadowblades since they both use a sleep spell.
Amazing AOE fear to peel for your backline or when escaping.
Single target stun against anyone.
The main peeling spell for your archers and mages. It deals a huge AOE push to anyone who comes to close. With this your archers and mages don't have to use their escapes or crowd control yet since you simply use into to get away.
extra magic defense for yourself since you will be using a shield as your off-hand to balance the defense.
A must on this class because you will drain your mana in no time so having this to sustain your mana pool is amazing when using and having a bit of critical chance luck.
Increases the duration for some of your crowd control spells and removes the cast time to catch people faster.
To me these are the best choices as a Hex Ranger but feel free to change anything to your playstyle just don't forget that this is a support class and not a damage dealing class.
Combos and Rotations
This class has many combos and rotations so remembering them all is a must when you're serious about playing this class. Keep in mind to always have and on all time.First of all some Archery damage dealing combos:
into into is the most easy damage dealing combo and will give your a short damage buff when also dealing over time damage to your enemy because of . This combo is the main combo for sustaining your mana pool because it synergize very well with .
Another combo is to silence any high priority targets that deal a lot of damage to you and your group which is into this will silence the target so it won't be able to use any escape or deal damage. Because of this you can reall quick shut the target down.
The only Songcraft combos you will use are into , into or into . All 3 of them are situational and are used on 1 target who is trying to kill your backline.
As for rotations:
Since you're always in the backline you have 80% of the time on to give your allies a increased damage buff. I don't use because this class can't benefit of it as much as something like a cleric. You will be able to heal a small amount for your team which won't be effective in fast paced group PvP. This is why is a lot better because you will decrease the damage done by enemies to your team. As for escape always use whenever you need it. Don't forget to use on the closest target before you use any of the 3 perform spells.
Gear
For gear you want to eventually get a full Ayanad Earth Set because this will give you an insane health buff and a increased parry rate. Also with a full set you will receive a permanent increase in both physical and magic defense. This set will turn you into an insane tank who can also peel for your backline. If you can't obtain this set because it's to expensive i would recommend the Epherium Earth Set which gives the same as the Ayanad set just a little less.
If you don't like both of these i would go for a mix like this from Auroria:
Wrists
Legs
Waist
Feet
And this from the serpentis dungeon:
Chest
Head
Hands
The Auroria 4-piece leather set will give you: Increased Attack Speed and Evasion by +3% and increases the range of all bow skills by +2m. Next to this all of the pieces give a unique bonus for your Archery skills.
The Serpentis 3-piece cloth set will give you: Increased Intelligence +20. This set is a little harder to get since it is not buyable in the Auction House like the Auroria set so you will be doing some Serpentis runs before having the set. I would recommend going with a group of friends or guildmates so you can ask them for help to get this specific set.
Next is weapons:
Your main hand will be T4 Obsidian Shortspear or higher because this gives the feral mark effect which helps in the Archery class and you will benefit even more from it because of . As an off-hand a shield is by far the best option. Any shield with high intelligence will do but for end game the Ayanad Lake Shield is by far your best option since it also gives a bit of stamina. You can take any bow with high Intelligence but for end game the Ayanad Tidal Bow is the best.
End Note
If this guide helped any of you please THUMBS UP the guide and feel free to tell this to anyone who would like to play a support type alternative. Ask any questions i will try to response in 24 hours or less. If you guys want more in-depth guides for ANYTHING, just ask and i'll try to make something. Also check out my other guides which only has skill points for now.
