I like how you said if anything is still alive :) I've noticed that groups tend to funnel in sometimes giving plenty opportunity for Godly Valor. I haven't tried Thor since the 2015 launch.. if I do, I'll give this a go!
My Thor is now level 60. Gear focuses on hp regen and melee, energy or area damage (most of the attacks I use are at least 2 of those, either melee and area or melee and energy or area and energy). I don't actually have the costume core I listed, it's a dream I'd love to see become real; use whatever makes sense. I also don't have the Midtown Patrol Badge and I don't know hot to get it, but I want one! For my relic I use Relic of Lemuria because then Thor heals himself whenever he hits, and jumping into a bunch of enemies with will likely fully heal him.
Thor has two passives, which gives him extra hp, defense, hp regen, and pretty big chance to ignore projectiles; and which gives him a big boost to MELEE, and boosts defense and tenacity for 8 seconds when hitting with MELEE. I'm stressing this because with this Thor is much tougher as a melee fighter than if you try to make him a lightning ranged caster. He is not Thing or Colossus though, and should not really stand toe to toe all the time, which is why all of my attack choices are aoe and mobility except .
is a cone attack, meaning it shoots everthing in front of Thor; be sure to face Thor in the direction you want to fire it before hitting it. The range is actually pretty far. This used to be called God Blast and it's still pretty godlike. I usually jump in to a group of enemies with , then slide out with , turn around and hit them with . If anything is left alive, either into them again, or to get spirit if there is still a good number of enemies, or just melee if there's just one or two left, of if you're fighting a boss and everything is on cooldown.
