Probably will spec for crit at level 60 since all of Human Torch's skills grant a 1-to-1 crit ratio on dots. This makes Bullseye the medallion of choice for increased DPS. Also, Bouncing Ball offers higher DPS than Burning Volley when maxed. Extreme Combustion is a DPS monster.

Other options include: Eagle of Infinity (200), Flames of the Flatline (203), Shield Motion Tracker (56), Skrull Targeting Computer (105), Bloodstone Eagle (267). Other artifacts offer a % to crit.
A. Burning Volley– This basic is fantastic. Sometimes we won’t be able to spam tons of Spirit spenders, but this ability will do just fine. Does AOE damage like everything else. MAX THIS ABILITY AT ALL TIMES This is a Spark power, meaning it sets enemies on fire and triggers the ‘Burning’ debuff
B. Blazing Charge – Our Movement power. We dash and any enemy we hit gets stunned for a bit. Will work just fine as a means of mobility. PUT ONE POINT IN THIS ABILITY This is a Spark power, meaning it sets enemies on fire and triggers the ‘Burning’ debuff
C. Scorching Pyre – Sets enemies aflame by dropping a giant “4†shaped AOE fire circle on the target location. Does tremendous damage, but more importantly lights up a bunch of enemies for us to damage with our abilities that consume the ‘Burning’ debuff. MAX THIS ABILITY AT ALL TIMES This is a Spark power, meaning it sets enemies on fire and triggers the ‘Burning’ debuff
D. Blazing Speed – A passive in our middle tree that gives us movement speed and around 2.5k dodge at level 20. Dodge is really our best way to mitigate damage on Torch, so we’re going to max this one. MAX THIS ABILITY AT ALL TIMES
E. Extreme Combustion – This ability is what we’ll use to consume the ‘Burning’ debuff we’ve put on targets. We can also just use it to clear trash. It’s a chargeup skill so it does a ton of damage (200% now) if we charge it all the way, and it absolutely destroys mobs (especially Burning ones). MAX THIS ABILITY AT ALL TIMES This ability consumes the Burning debuff, which is generated by using abilities with the ‘Spark’ tag
F. Fuel for the Flame – This is what causes our ‘Spark’ powers to set an enemy on fire so that we can use Extreme Combustion to melt them. Puts a DoT on enemies when we use Spark powers, and sets them on fire. The damage isn’t so great but this build relies on so few actives, why not? MAX THIS ABILITY AT ALL TIMES
G. Fiery Rejuvenation
Consume the Flames– This nifty ability consumes the Burning debuff and gives us spirit back for each target near us that is Burning. The main problem with this ability is that we won’t be able to use it on trash, generally, because they will die too fast. Bosses, additionally, are only a single target-so there isn’t much help there either! This ability shines in Cosmic Terminals (mobs have lots of health) and in high waves of X-Def. DUMP POINTS REMAINING INTO THIS ABILITYH. Cleaning Fire – CC break/immunity. PUT ONE POINT IN THIS ABILITY
I Thermal Intensity – Not the greatest passive in the world (the damage rating is meh and the +damage when you get hit isn’t great), but its what we’ve got. We deal more damage to close targets, and damage attackers who hit us. Since we use like, 3 active abilities-we can afford to max this passive. MAX THIS ABILITY AT ALL TIMES
Number of active buttons in this MalfeanWW Lazy Build - 3. We will use Scorching Pyre to light everything up and Extreme Combustion to mow them down. If we run out of spirit, we’ll utilize Volley to murder trash while we regen.
Playstyle-
A. Dash around (duh, it’s a MalfeanWW build)
B. Drop Scorching Pyre to burn things.
C. Spam Extreme Combustion to blow those burning things up.
D. Basic when you’re out of juice.

2. Gear
Spirit – How to gear for it
This build is very spirit hungry but super amazin’ for n00bs like me. We should therefore try to prepare ourselves for the Spirit woes if we can. Most players (even new guys) will be able to get a Grim Reaper/Madame Hydra Medallion fairly quickly, a few Gibborims, and some of the Artifacts I’ve mentioned.
Synergies:
If you can, before you begin leveling Torch, equip the Punisher (spirit on defeat), Storm (+Spirit), and Loki (spirit cost reduction) synergies. These are a big help, especially Punisher!
Medallion:
Grim Reaper or Madame Hydra.
Both give spirit on kill, and the damage rating on Hydea is nice! (Thanks @Menoitios for this tip)
Relics:
Gibborim, even at low levels, will give you a ton of spirit.
Artifacts:
Moonstone Shard,
Asgardian Runestone (from the vendor outside of Odin’s Palace in Lower Asgard),
Crystal of Kadavus (spirit on basic with attack speed),
Advanced Kadavus (same thing),
Pym’s Shrinking Serum (spirit on dodge),
Mark of the Odinborn (spirit and spirit on orb pickup, and killing things nets us lots of orbs)
+Spirit on gear, sounds like a no-brainer but has to be said.
Uniques:
Slot 1 – Gloves of the Light Brigade (Torch Unique) Damage (kinda low), tons of damage to Burn powers (makes up for the low base damage), 5 Spirit on enemy defeat. The + Powers….very unhelpful to us (Burning Volley is fine and dandy but once we get Spirit we don't use it tons and Arcfire we won't touch). As a result, we may want to consider a Cosmic weapon with +Energy or Ranged damage and some + to abilities we actually use.
@Karriko suggests using the Iron Patriot Repulsors if you've got them - Energy/Ranged damage and Spirit regen! Thanks man!
Slot 2 – Stark’s Unstable Catalyst (Torch unique) – Decent def/energy def, +Energy damage, +Health, +1 Energy (awesome), +to the tree with our Passives, Combustion in it (awesome), +to Thermal Intensity (nice), and then +to Protective Flames (which we don’t use because it eats our spirit). These are fine, the only other thing I could think of is Eidolon Warwear since it makes us super tanky and gives us a ton of Ranged Damage. Whichever you have honestly.
Slot 3 – Future Foundation Belt (Human Torch) – Dodge, max Spirit (yay), Spirit regen (yay), +1 to all powers (nice), +6 to our Firebrand tree (Fuel for the Flame and Consume the Flames, so meh), and more +ranks to Burning Volley. If we have it, use it for the Spirit and Spirit regen. Otherwise, I’d see how we can do on the Cosmic front.
Slot 4 – The Original Human Torch’s Boots (Human Torch) – Radius on area (awesome), damage to targets at max range (not bad, we’ll take it for dropping pyre’s far off and hitting mobs at the edge of Combustion), tons of health regen, and +a bunch to our Burning Bravo tree (Volley, Scorching Pyre (epic). We like these, and should use them. If not, consider Hydra Repulsor boots for the +Energy damage.
Slot 5 – Stellar Fire (Human Torch) – This unique is awesome. Torch is one of the lucky heroes to get a 2nd weapon slot, and this one is great. +Damage, +Damage with DoTs (awesome), spirit cost reduction for powers (a Loki’s synergy worth and then some), chance to ignore damage entirely, crit rating, crit damage rating, +1 to all powers. This thing is amazing.
Relics: Gibborim. Need moar Spirit!
Artifacts:
Up to 60/bad gear Kadavus/Advanced Kadavus (spirit on basic), Mark of the Odinborn (spirit and spirit on Orb pickup), Asgardian Runestone (Spirit on kill), Moonstone Shard (spirit and spirit regen), Pym’s Shrinking (Dodge and Spirit on Dodge), Super Soldier/Advanced (Spirit/health/regen, etc.)
Decent Gear 60 Power Prism Shard (Area/Radius), Pluvian (+Area), Super Soldier (need –some- tankiness), Brazier (damage to burning), Hand of Doom (obvs.), Pym’s Shrinking (we should still use this for spirit regen)
Blessings: Odin blessings here I think. We have pretty low crit in general, so we could go for Fandral (we do use dodge) but I like the spirit on kill from Odins.
Costume: +1 Energy and I’m anticipating +1 Intelligence as well for the stat rework so we’ll get some crit. 25% spirit/health on medkit is also pretty nuts on this guy.
Legendary: I’m thinking Cosmic Control Rod since we get a bunch of Energy damage out of it and +Energy. M’kraan Crystal also works super well on him as moar Spirit=moar Spam. Finally, since we have fairly low crit, Gungir wouldn’t be a terrible choice (we’d get a lot out of it).
Insignia: O'Gradysaurus Rex with Area/Energy/Ranged and maybe some Spirit.
Uru item: Energy/Ranged
Medallion:
At fairly low levels we’ll get great mileage from Madame Hydra and Grim Reaper for the spirit on kill. At higher levels, we may want to consider Pyro (tons of +Energy damage) or Doc Oc (+radius, so we burninate moar and tons of damage).
3. Leveling Strategy
Get as much +Spirit crap on this guy as possible at low levels. Drop a Scorching Pyre and watch stuff die. Basic whatever doesn’t. You’ll get Extreme Combustion late, and eventually you will probably just use it for trash-without even touching the Pyre combo. Once you get to 60 it’ll be another story, but while leveling Combustion will probably do the trick!
