"DOCTOR STRANGE"

*Updated Guide to reflect additional Power Points and included screenshots*

After trying a few builds concerning the "Legion" builds, I ended up trying a new approach and it seems to work wonders. This particular build isn't extremely dedicated to gear, except for Life Stealing gear and Spirit/Spirit Stealing gear, so it has a wide range for players who seem to be unlucky with RNG. The basic concept behind this to keep your Incantations firing off constantly to consistently reduce cool-downs, utilizing Mystic Energy resource, all while regenerating health and spirit. I'll run you through the Power Point allocation and the reasoning behind it first.

POWERS:

One Point Wonders:

Since your main damage isn't derived from basics at all, your initial basic will only be used for Regen HP/Hit. It's also handy that this one penetrates through enemies with decent range

This spell gets bumped down to a mere One point since it deals the least amount of damage per tick, and has no change to its cool-down based on points spent. And since this already has a low cool-down, you'll be using this in conjunction with
to maximize your Incantation reset if you get out of whack with timing them properly.

Since the newest update, this spell won't scale in effect for the "Team-Buff" but will still scale for the "Inside the circle" buff. You should grow accustomed to dropping this on the ground before starting the onslaught of whatever is in front you. Never hurts to have more Defense and Damage.

This one is obvious. Teleport in, drop some spells, Teleport out. The AoE is useful for bushes and benches in X-Def too.

This is in essence your "Oh crap!" button. Aside from being near death and using this as defensive tactic, it's also plausible to cast all DoT provoking Incantations and then utilize this spell while they wreak havoc. Also if you somehow get drained of Spirit this is a nice "pick-me-up."

Essential for soloing bosses and cosmic/endgame content if you don't have some kind of companion already(ie. Demons, Mindless Ones, Team-Ups, or any other summon type ally.) Drop it down and keep blasting the baddy. Rinse and Repeat as necessary.

Since the update, this now serves as another "Team Buff" and is now a One-Point Wonder. It is also useful for another pip in Mystic Power for cool-down refreshment.

I never use this Spell but felt compelled to mention it as a One Pointer since it in fact is a mandatory One-Pointer

MAXED:

Since the update, this passive is now maxed.

This power is now maxed to give as much DoT damage while pulling as possible.

I primarily pop it starting any boss fight, but usually forget to reapply during since I'm on a roll with the constant Incantation-Bombardment.

Incredible damage once maxed(+ item boosts) and has a very low cool-down with decent range.

THE MONEY MAKER! Drop this on baddies after you pull and drop the Seal, along with all the other DoTs. Huge radius and incredible damage makes this a must have for destroying anything quickly. Also awesome at guarding the students in X-Def since its area covers any student in a pack, for the most part.

Not only does this spell offer CC Immunity for a few seconds while blasting all enemies away, it also deals the highest damage per cool-down, which can be dropped to 0 if you cast at the end of the Mystic Power cycle. Win-Win!

Being the best passive the good Doctor has in his kit, not maxing it is out of the question.

Split Points:

Since the patch, this has received a significant boost to the overall input for points and is now boosted to 15 total points. With the boosts of Defender's Black Coat Unique, which can give up to 6 points, it makes the most sense to drop this particular spell in favor of maxing
.

Here is a screenshot of my current power allocation in game:

And here is the setup for three different power bars, one of which is a basic-less bar to attempt to maximize the Mystic Power Cool-down process:

RELIC:

[item]188[/item]Need as much Spirit as possible. I have around 200 of these on him currently and I rarely run out of spirit, in addition to whatever items that boosts Spirit.

ARTIFACTS & MEDALLION:

Here are my Artifacts via screenshot since most of the new Artifacts have yet to be updated and applied to Marvelbase:

Other substitutes for Artifacts are the Power Prism Shard, Mental-Focus HeadBand, or the elusive Hand of Doom and Gem of the Kursed. Since I currently have no Blessings for my Artifacts, I can not say with any certain degree that I am correct, however I assume that Hela would be best since you are constantly blasting with DoTs from multiple spells.

To me this one is the clear winner in terms of Medallions - - but if you can't get a good roll or want to swap to a more supportive style this [item]33[/item], [item]34[/item], or this [item]39[/item] could be used.

AFFIXES & CORE:

[item]194[/item]I know that technically this particular core is no longer in the game, it still reflects that a core with +Life on Damage and +1 Energy are your best bets, or possibly one with 3K HP and 100 Spirit along with the Life on Damage rolls if you feel your Energy is sufficient.

My affixes are constructed so that my Grades 1 and 3 are Health rolls and Grades 2 and 4 are Life on Basic Hit. Or you could go for + Damage on all, or + Health on all if you feel a bit too squishy, which Strange definitely is.

RUNEWORD & URU:

Obviously you wanna rock the Mental Uru if you feel your defense can make it without the +800 from the armor.

As far as Runewords go, you can go either River of Soul, Brigand's Fortune(for +70 Spirit and +1 Speed), or if you have the runes Storm Giant Magi.

GEAR:

If you have uniques, then use 'em up. I have recently acquired his Slot 5 unique, however I am currently using the Remote Cerebro unique in its stead since it savagely out performs it in Mental Damage rating. If you don't have uniques, don't sweat it. just try to focus on HP/Spirit > + "X" to Powers, especially your One Pointers > Defense > Regen HP/Spirit on Enemy defeat. As far as rings go, Cosmic type with +HP/Spirit and Ranged/Area Damage are the winners, but any epic of those combos will do. Insignias are one of the most elusive finds for me. That being said, you could never go wrong with more Health, Area/Ranged Damage, Critical/Brutal Strike/Damage. And as with all Mental Damage dealing heroes, the Wizard Medallion generally beats out the others, however a great Doctor Octopus Medallion would do fine. So not to make a whole section for it, Synergies should be anything that confers Mental Damage>Area Damage>DoT Damage>Critical S/D>Brutal S/D>Damage vs. Unaware>Anything else. That being said, here are my Slots 1-5, respectively, my ring, and an overview of my Dr. Strange's main character sheet.

And alternatives to his Slots 1, 3, and 5, respectively, are also

and

LEGENDARY:

Warlock's Eye for the win!

ROTATION/TACTICS:

Generally speaking, on trash mobs, begin with Flames of the Faltine and almost simultaneously Seal, followed by Vapors, 7Sun Blast, Bands of Cyttorak, and finally Winds. The 6th Incantation will begin the 10 second chop to cool-downs, which means that all of your Incantations except Vapors are available again. If the mobs are still standing, roll through the Incantations again and either wait a few seconds for 7Suns to be off cool-down to apply another 10 second refreshment, or utilize Seraphim or Images to quickly gain another cool-down break. For elite content and/or bosses, it is imperative that Images are incorporated within the first set of Incantations, if not the first one, then followed by the Seal and All-Seeing Eye. Afterward, continue to rain down Incantations as you force them out of cool-down. Be sure to remember to use Astral Form from time to time when fighting bosses with cosmic circles after you drop all Incantations in one volley. The damage still ticks on from DoTs while you are invulnerable. As always, be sure to teleport to a easily defendable position if available, like the top of stairs or behind a rock, while you devastate the enemy with your relentless spells.

CONCLUSION:

And that's that. If you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to leave them for discussion. Thanks!
