SUPERIOR SPIDEY HYBRID

Hello, this is my first MarvelBase build that I have posted, but hope to do more in the future. I will do my best to explain the skill and item choices thoroughly.

I have tested many different builds since the launch of the Spidey rework in patch 1.4. I absolutely love this one, though there are many viable builds available to suit different play styles of how you want your Spidey to play.

This is a hybrid build that demolishes bosses and trash alike while never running out of spirit. Stay at range or get up and melee, you do both with this build!

MANDATORY ITEMS

[item]35[/item]Elektra Medallion: This Medal allows you to Spin to your hearts content with Web Wrecking Ball, destroying trash mobs in short order. The life on hit with a movement power also makes you very tanky and nearly impossible to kill on trash. Simply defeat Elektra on Heroic or Superheroic (or get a drop from Midtown Manhattan) to get this Medal.

[item]94[/item]Superheroic Maht's Arrowhead: This is a quest reward Artifact that lets you Web Barrage for an extremely long period of time without running out of spirit. The high rate of fire causes the proc to go off every second keeping your spirit up for the duration of boss fights, elite mobs, etc without question. This is artifact is easily obtainable by completing the Maht's Bug Hunt quest in Chapter 7 on Superheroic mode.

These are the only two mandatory items for this build to function. And they are easy to get, no luck involved. Anyone can get them and try this build out!

OPTIONAL//SITUATIONAL ITEMS

[item]100[/item]Metasensory Array: The +1 Skills from this artifact is the main bonus that you're looking for, adding to all your major skills is quite big. More damage, higher rate of fire, etc. The bonuses of +dmg and attack speed are just gravy.

[item]101[/item]Pym Shrinking Serum: I use this Artifact for clearing trash. It allows you to Webswing around as much as you like without worrying about running out of spirit or having to manage how often you swing. It's especially nice if you're rushing terminal runs for a group of friends.

[item]104[/item]Chthonic Idol: This is the same idea as the Maht's Arrowhead. The rate of fire on Web Barrage is insane and allows for proc items to add lots of damage.

[item]41[/item]Mandarin Medallion: I definitely recommend switching to this Artifact for bosses. You will kill them in mere seconds. Once again, related to Web Barrage damage. This is a huge part of the build when it comes to your damage against bosses.

[item]187[/item]Relic of Lemuria: The best relic. Life on hit (and life leech from a core) with Web Barrage will fill your hp back up in a flash. You could go with Xandar or Atlantis if you wanted a bit of extra damage.

[item]197[/item]Radioactive Isotope: First you want to look for one with % damage converted to life. That's really the only stat that you need. If you don't have the Unique helm, you'd probably want +Strength as well. Other good options are 25% life/spirit on med kit use and +Durability (if you have the unique helm).

Gear: All of Spiderman's Uniques are great, and you should try to get them if you can, that goes without saying though. Stats on gear to focus on are +1 to all skills (obviously), +Web Barrage and +Webslinger Skills. Web Spray, Corrosive, Wrecking Ball and Spidey-Sense are also useful. Finding an item that grants Rank 15+ of skills like Amazing Smash, Spider to the Fly, Deflective Web Shield, Superior Agility, Infuriating Humor, or Web-Swinging can be a huge bonus to your spec.

SKILLS

You can make slight changes to the point allocation based on preference, but here's a breakdown of the different trees.

CRIMEFIGHTER (44)

Web Wrecking Ball
(20): My personal favorite AoE spell for Spidey. Trash clearing king. When wearing Elektra's Medal you will never run out of spirit while using this to kill trash mobs (and likely won't die). And great damage on top of it? Awesome. If you enjoyed playing a Whirlwind Barb in D3 you will love this. If that's not your style, both Leaping Assault and Stick Around are viable options.

Amazing Smash
(20): Spidey's "signature move". It's the old ultimate scaled down and reduced to a 1 minute cooldown. The damage is high, 100% dodge for 11.8 seconds (at rank 28), pulls all mobs in to you. Lay down Web Spray, use Amazing Smash and finish off the stragglers with Web Wrecking Ball. Works great! The best parts of this spell are the 100% dodge and the AoE grip in, both of which you get with just 1 point into the skill. For that reason, if I were to move any of my points around, they would come from here. Hopefully they reduce the cooldown if you put points into this.

Spider to the Fly
(1): You get the +50% melee damage to webbed targets with a single point, therefor this is a 1 point wonder for me. If you want some extra crit and brutal strike rating, you could add points here.

Webswing Attack
(1): Another 1 point wonder. Use to break cc effects.

WEBSLINGER (60)

Web Spray
(20): Get this skill. No question about it, I max this out in every Spidey build regardless of play style. At rank 28 I get 44.4% extra damage to targets effected by it. Don't skip this skill!

Web Barrage
(20): Amazing single target damage dealer. Insane rate of fire. This is the boss killer of this spec, and along with Maht's Arrowhead is the reason you can skip out on Basics. Max this skill. Use Maht's Arrowhead and Mandarin Medallion. Melt bosses in mere seconds. You won't be disappointed!

Corrosive Web Fluid
(20): At rank 31 it adds an 857 damage DoT ticking twice per second and 53% more damage to "far away targets". A huge damage boost if you can be at ranged, run with others (don't have to tank the boss) or are running Midtown Manhattan, etc. Recommended.

WALLCRAWLER (26)

Spider-Sense
(20): Another skill that I max every time I try a new spec. High dodge rating, total dodge %, projectile evasion and thorns type damage when you dodge attacks? Yes please. Amazing passive.

Deflective Web Shield
(2): Great defensive ability, and one of the big reasons that Spidey can actually take hits now. Passive defense rating. Defense %, projectile deflection and health regen on use. 10 second duration, 15 second cooldown. If you use it on cooldown you only have to wait 5 seconds in between. I usually wait until I take a hit, then pop the shield to take advantage of the health regeneration. Save Med Kits and Amazing Smash for the 5 seconds while the shield is on cooldown if necessary, rotating your defensive abilities. I put the extra skill point I had left over here. This is a good option to add more points into if you don't want to max Amazing Smash. I have considered it, though I don't find myself having survivability issues for the time being. If you're not using Relic of Lemuria or have a life leech core, you probably want more points here.

Superior Agility
(1): Tenacity, move speed and attack speed passive bonuses. Very nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't see the points to spare to afford more here. 1 point wonder.

Infuriating Humor
(1): If you only solo, or wanted to try a MODOK tank build, I could see putting more points here, but that's not for this build. Definitely worth the 1 point though.

Web-Swinging
(1): Not for everyone, but I can't go without. Faster travel speed, swing over objects rather than running around, etc. Still only room for 1 point, sadly. Wish Superior Agility passives could be rolled into this.

CONCLUSION

I hope the build is easy enough to understand and you have as much fun with it as I have.
