[2015 Patch 1.01] Hybrid Emma


Emma


After 2015 Patch 1.0, Hybrid Emma became much more viable. I love Emma and her Diamond Form (although I have to say it looks ridiculous in this game), and her Telepathy too. If you love her Diamond Form and Telepathy as much as I do, this build is for you.

This build is slightly tankier, but it also allows Emma to be a "mob swarm" AoE killer at the same time.

Here's the stats that should be our targets.

35% critical chance (not including Fandral blessings)
250% critical damage
25K health
8 Durability
15K defense rating
2250 mental and physical damage rating

I haven't reached all of those targets yet but I'm working hard.

Omega Telepath Tree



A definite max because it deals decent damage and it applies vulnerability debuff.

A decent channeled AoE power. It even comes with a persisting DoT effect. Use Dread instead if you prefer that.

Max this awesome power as it lets you see enemies on the minimap in non-diamond, and you regenerate health when you deal mental dmg.

Your CC breaker. No point ranking it up to match the cooldown duration.

One point just for Accuracy. Remember to activate this first if not Accuracy won't work.

Hellfire Headmistress Tree



Psychic Domination scales horribly. Not worth investing.

Deals extra damage and helps you to taunt enemies in case things get a little too heated. Best used with a melee teleporter pet (which ideally should have a Haste Aura).

An alternative if you don't wish to use Psychic Blast. In my opinion, this choice is not that good because it's PBAoE, whereas Blast can reach further. I also channel Psychic Blast while waiting for my DoTs to tick.

This is a decent passive, yet only worth 1 point because the damage rating only applies when you don't have full diamond armor which regenerates so fast.

Point dump for spike damage.

Diamond Paragon Tree



Max this for survivability.

One point just for moving around.

Diamond-Bladed Spin Kick is good as it causes enemies to bleed, increasing the damage of Diamond Crush. Great DPS! Max this.

Diamond Crush - Max this. It hits like a truck on bleeding enemies. Without Haste Aura and other power duration extenders, Diamond Crush can hit for around 4 times before Spin Kick needs to be reapplied. With Haste Aura, it can be used up to 7 times before needing to reapply the bleed. Best to team up with a bleed build Wolverine, huh.

Diamond Armor replenisher in case you take too much damage and didn't replenish D.A in time. Also a physical damage buff.

One point just for the damage rating against attacking enemies.

Artifacts



[item]95[/item] It gives you bonus damage and radius to your main AoE powers - Telepathic Torment, Psychic Blast, Inspire and Spin Kick.

[item]247[/item] A good choice for survivability as it gives you additional health regen and defense, so why not?

[item]221[/item] Awesome invuln proc, which is great especially in Cosmic Terms. It also gives you health and physical damage.

Advanced Kung Fu Training Sequence - Totally awesome artifact for Emma in boosting her defense when she uses a melee attack. She also gets a health bonus and melee damage rating bonus!

[item]58[/item] It helps to increase your next melee power when you use a ranged power. It also gives you +1 rank to all powers.

White Suit Jacket is also a great choice as it gives you health, defense rating and melee damage.

Medallions



[item]36[/item] Juggernaut Medallion is the best medallion for survivability. I'm going for a slightly tankier Emma so I chose this.

[item]33[/item] Doom Medallion for the power duration which increases the duration of your DoTs. (Can hit approx. 1 more time of Diamond Crush before reapplying Spin Kick)

[item]39[/item] Madame Hydra is also a decent choice as it has invuln proc and damage rating.

Costume


Core:
Durability and Health for survivability.

+Mental/Physical damage rating and +Fighting is good for DPS.

Costume:
Go for health on all 4 grades.

Relics



[item]187[/item] Lemuria for the LoH. All defense and no regen doesn't go well.

[item]210[/item] Subterranean for the extra defense, which is great especially if you have high Durability.

Gear Slots



Slot 1 - The Darkhold (All Hero Unique)
This unique is extremely powerful for Emma's mental powers. It gives +706 dmg rating (on lvl 60) and +1446 mental dmg rating, which adds up to an amazing +2152 dmg rating and also the +4% additional mental damage from the +1 Energy. Besides this, you also get a decent amount of brutal strike rating, brutal dmg rating and spirit.

Slot 2 - Eidolon Warwear (All Hero Unique)
This unique is essential in boosting Emma's survivability. It adds a significant amount of health regen and Ranged Damage Rating.

Slot 3 - Dark X-Men Jacket (Emma Unique)
Boosts Emma's survivability. Adds 1 to Durability and also a chance to become invulnerable when attacked.

Slot 4 - Generation X Academy Boots (Emma Unique)
This unique is better than the Stiletto unique because the stat it gives are beneficial to hybrid Emma!

Slot 5 - Locket of the Lords Cardinal (Emma Unique)
Needless to say, this unique gives a slight damage boost (Cyclops pet) and bonus to your sig and Dread if you use it.

Legendary


Gugnir
I would suggest Gugnir because we're not pure mental/physical.

Blessings


Volstagg x2 - Gives you +3% defense and base health

Fandral X2 - Gives you 100 crit rating and +3% dodge chance! More DPS and survivability.

Uru and Runeword



Uru-Forged:
800 Defense Uru is better than 200 of any damage rating

Runeword:
Ancient Grove - It adds Durability and defense rating and health, increasing your survivability!

Alternatively, you can use River of the Soul if you have spirit issues. Lunar Eclipse is expensive but good too.

Enhancements


II, III, IV



X3 Cattle (200 health each)

I, V



X2 Tyr/Sun - Although it's expensive, it's good.

X2 Hail for cheap alternative

Rotation



For story/MM mobs:
Open with Torment and tap Psychic Blast, then dash in and DBSK (Diamond-Bladed Spin Kick). Finish off with Psychic Blast for those still standing.

For Cosmic/Hard hitting mobs:
Same as previous, open with Torment and tap Psychic Blast, then dash in and DBSK. Use Inspire to taunt enemies away from you and Mind Cloak and wait for a few seconds just in case, and while the DoTs tick. Use Kneel when available and reapply DoTs when they end. Might want to take out enemies with Diamond Crush one by one while the DoTs tick.

For Bosses:
Apply all DoTs, Inspire, then start shredding bosses with Diamond Crush. Kneel when available and reapply DoTs when they end.

I usually stick to a certain hotkey binding style. RMB and S usually for AoE powers, D is either an AoE power or a "shield" power (Like Scarlet Witch's Entropic Warding. In this case it's Diamond Heart) Z usually for movement powers, [1] usually for CC Breaks and [3] for Signatures (if not already on main power bar). The rest depends on the hero.

Here's what keys I bind to access other hotbars.
1 - 2nd Hotbar LMB
2 - 2nd Hotbar "A"
3 - 2nd Hotbar "S"
Q - 2nd Hotbar "D"
W - 2nd Hotbar "F"
E - 2nd Hotbar "G"
R - 2nd Hotbar "H"

How does this work? You edit the ini files and add in some codes. (More on that in the link above.) So when I press [1], the 2nd hotbar appears and "LMB" is "clicked". Similarly, when I press [Q], the power in the third slot of the 2nd hotbar is used.

26/2/14: Added my blessings recommendation and changed an artifact choice. Major changes to power choice, mainly removing unnecessary Telepath powers and moving them into Diamond powers. Here's the list of changes: Removed Psychic Blast because the DPS is not that great. Removed Inspire Minion and put 1 point into Mental Overload for the buff. Added points into Unlock Potential, Kneel, Diamond Smash and DB Spin Kick. Key Binding added!

1/3/14: Changed the name to 2.3.1. No other changes, since there has been no changes to Emma in this patch.

10/6/14: Finally updated the build now that Hybrid is decently viable.
