@Pippen Thank you! This build is updated to patch 1.02, meaning that I'm still using those artifacts!
After rescuing a de-aged Storm from the Shadow King, Gambit was brought back to the X-Mansion where he eventually joined the X-Men. As a mutant, Gambit possesses the ability to convert the potential energy in an object into destructive kinetic energy. Gambit utilizes this power mostly in the form of throwing kinetically charged playing cards which explode on impact, or by super charging his extendable bo staff.Marvel Source
Gambit and his fellow X-Man Rogue have an unsteady relationship, with a nearly equal mix of time together and time apart.

I absolutely love this build to no end!! Thank you very very much ^^ I have a question about if any of it has changed since the last few patches though? Mainly if your still using the same artifacts? Either way thank you very much again ^^
Fantastic guide, I just ding'd 60 & had a blast - made a few changes but overall its the same build. keep up the good work!
â–▂▃▄▅▆▇ 2015 Patch 1.02 Hybrid Survival-DPS ▇▆▅▄▃▂â–
This is a build is a hybrid build I found quite good in maintaining DPS while having good survivability. I tested this out in the MODOK Cosmic Terminal Level (solo btw), and it was quite effective in clearing trash (even blues) while maintaining spirit and health, even against Cosmic Dr Ock. This build is subjected to change when I find items that give better stats because the artifacts in marvelbase is outdated. For this build, you can alter whatever you deem fit according to your preference and playstyle. You could go for more health instead of dodge, go for more survivability than DPS and vice-versa etc.
PROS AND CONS
Pros- With this build and proper timing of execution of powers, you'll be dying a lot less often and will be dealing decent damage. This build has high crit and decent brutal strike rating, so damage is great.
Cons- Because this build focuses too much on defense, crit and dodge rating, there is absolutely no room to allow other stats like attack speed. Attack speed is important, but so is crit, dodge and defense rating.
So here's the few factors that made this thing possible:
- [item]101[/item] This item is a must for all dodge based heroes. This is how spirit, and indirectly, health is maintained.
- and [item]187[/item] Without these, it is impossible for Gambit to even survive 5 seconds in a pack of mobs in that MODOK C.T.L. This is provided that you have which applies the energy DoT to enemies which replenishes your health. [item]71[/item] also provides the same effect.
- is an AoE Melee spell. It procs the health gain from Savate Expert. Useful in among packs of mobs.
- is an AoE melee and energy spell! Procs the health gain from Savate and from Oculus.
Other Powers
1 point in it is sufficient. We won't be using this power that much anyways, and it would get buffed by gear.
better now with the rework. Now adds vulnerability debuff to enemies and is an effective power to clear trash. A must have. Could switch out for according to your playstyle and preference.
for the extra spirit and damage bonus to thrown powers. Good to have.
now also better with the rework. Spammable and deals damage twice. Good to clear trash too.
Won't be using this power.
An absolute max now that we have extra power points. This power has high DPS and it requires skill and strategy involved in deciding when to use it. Definitely not great to use in the middle of mobs in cosmic terminals, but other than that, it's really great. 9 power points in this power could be shifted to HoC or spread out evenly with HoC and Sleight of Hand (14 in each power).
Point dump. House of Cards is also a good power to clear trash. Deals huge damage and slows enemies, and cooldown reduced to 3 seconds. Great to have! 11 points in it is enough with gear buffs.
Use it often to get the move/attack speed bonus.
, and are 1 point wonders.
dodge is essential. Power points could be spread out evenly with signature and HoC (14 in each power) and even with Ragin' Cajun (10 in each power).
Rotation
For story/MM mobs, I drop followed by then or the remaining surviving ones.
For cosmic/red terminal/X-Def/Holo-Sim mobs, I drop , , myself into the middle of the pack of mobs, drop , , then myself out of the pack of mobs. I then or the remaining mobs and do the "routine" all over again. frequently to avoid attacks from more powerful mobs.
For bosses, I drop , , to the boss, drop , then activate and use . frequently to avoid attacks from more powerful bosses. Then just a few times and repeat the whole thing. (Ignore the RC+52 if 52 is still on cool down.)
Medallion
[item]200[/item] for the crit and dodge rating.
Alternatives:
- [item]33[/item] for the health and spirit bonus and the cower proc.
- [item]46[/item] for the overall bonus.
- [item]41[/item] for the CC proc. Good for Gambit since he doesn't have much CC powers.
Artifacts
[item]101[/item] and [item]71[/item] explained above. However, if you find no problems surviving, then you could use other artifacts instead of [item]71[/item]
Advanced Kungfu Training Sequence - This artifact boosts Gambit's survivability. The 900 def buff on melee hit is useful since we'll be using Street Sweep, Bo Vault and Grand Slam often.
[item]207[/item] Boosts Gambit's crit rating and crit dmg rating. Great to have.
Alternatives:
[item]75[/item] boosts Gambit's crit and bsr in addition to the damage rating bonus.
[item]87[/item] gain a huge crit bonus when you dodge. A good artifact, but is less effective against bosses.
[item]221[/item] for the invulnerability proc and additional health.
[item]247[/item] a little health regen, health, spirit, spirit regen and defense is good for his survivability.
Pym Shrinking is compulsory. Ocolus is highly recommended. Feel free to use any of the alternative artifacts instead. If you're going to make this build slightly more survivability friendly, you can choose to have Adv SSS or Adv CCC instead of Ziggurat.
Gear Priorities
Crit Rating, Dodge Rating, Health and Defense Rating all have equally high priorities.
[+X to current ranks to Savate Expert], [+X to current ranks of Sleight of Hand], Critical Damage Rating and Brutal Strike Rating have high-medium priority.
Brutal Damage Rating have medium-low priority.
The rest have equal low priority.
Costume
Grade 1: Dodge Rating
Grade 2: Crit Rating
Grade 3: Attack speed
Grade 4: Crit Rating
Costume Core: Spirit for longer spamming of powers. +Strength for an additional 5% physical damage and the ability to throw heavy objects.
Relics
[item]187[/item] for the heal per hit. Very essential now that Savate Expert has a brief internal cooldown.
Legendary
Gugnir for the crit bonus. Since Gambit has no natural crit, Gugnir is a good legendary for him.
Uru
I encourage you to choose what works best for you. I chose this one for Gambit's survivability. You could go for Melee or Ranged or Energy if you wish. For its runeword, I decided to go with this
Another 400 Defense bonus means that I have 1200 extra defense rating. With this uru equipped and my other artifacts, in combat, I have near to 10K Physical and Energy Defense Rating.
Enchantment
II, III, IV
2X Enchantment of Oak (+150 defense each)
1X Enchantment of Cattle (+200 health)
I, V
2X Enchantment of Fire (+50 Energy Damage Rating each)
Blessings
I'll say go for Blessing of Fandral for 2 artifacts. Additional 6% dodge chance and 200 critical rating is great.
For the other 2, go for Blessing of Hela. 10% BSR is great for Gambit. You also have a 10% chance to deal dmg equal to your hp.
Alternatively, you could go for 3 Fandral and 1 Hela or 1 Fandral and 3 Hela according to your preference and playstyle.

Here's what keys I bind to access other hotbars.
1 - 2nd Hotbar LMB
2 - 2nd Hotbar "A"
3 - 2nd Hotbar "S"
Q - 2nd Hotbar "D"
W - 2nd Hotbar "F"
E - 2nd Hotbar "G"
R - 2nd Hotbar "H"
How does this work? You edit the ini files and add in some codes. (More on that in the link above.) So when I press [1], the 2nd hotbar appears and "LMB" is "clicked". Similarly, when I press [Q], the power in the third slot of the 2nd hotbar is used.
Thanks for reading this guide. Feel free to shift power points around to your preference after getting a feel for them. Hope you find this build useful and effective. Do leave down your comments.
