In my opinion, it will depend on your play style; I honestly don't have spirit problems, but I do see the benefit of using the other if need be. Also, if you're having spirit problems and are using a Ziggurat, you can always teleport and pop a medkit for extra spirit.
I think you would be better off with Heroic Strike then Shield Swipe just for the spite return for Heroic Strike
