    , some people think just few point is okay, that we can cast it again when empty. But it's not true, first we are short on mana, between aoe, clobbering and you have to keep mana for endure assault. And there is a synergie with modok medallion. On team play, and I think mainly to the raid, there is dangerous situation where you can't die and have to keep the boss on you and sometimes you can't even hit without die in few second -> endure assault, but you do nothing with endure assault so the huge granite help a lot. The synergie with modok is when you are on endure assault (= no taunt), jagged defender hit -> taunt. You can just stay on endure assault, having granite on and auto taunt. Just do clobbering each ~30s.
    Put these eight spell on your bar, you don't need the second and third bar.



  • About the stuff

  • There is in fact two differents orientation possible (the split is clearly visible since 2.2 update).
    Gear in common :


    First path:


    It's more tanking oriented, use the core and relics listed on the build.

    Slot 1 can be changed for death seed, but they are quite equivalent, or a cosmic with at least hp on basic, +X hard as rock +X clobbering.
    Slot 2 : Slab of Subterranea
    Slot 3 : bad at the first look, but +6 rockpile, tenacity (if clobbering failed), hp, you can't find better on cosmic or any hero ^^.
    Slot 4 : not great but do is job, power duration for clobbering, boost every 30s, +1 fighting, great for def and dps and +2 all.
    Slot 5 : if you are a thing, you take it point.

    For the affixes on the costume use + hp (flat number or % hp if you still have it).
    Uru : +800 def with courage of asgard (+ 1k def and hp, +100 crit rating and brutal strike rating, 10% less damage from area power)
    Enchant : Oak rune on slot 2,3,4 and stone rune on slot 1, 5.
    Maybe we will change aggressive aura for guardian in the future, but it's not for now (one day, with the raids ?). And it mean sacrifice a non negligeable part of our dps.
    blessing of volstagg, mainly for the 12% def; on this build you don't need any effort to pass 40K hp, but you need to boost def and there is a lack on regen. hp per min is not good for the thing, 'cause we have it through the stuff and it's not a good thing for us ^^ If the thing get a heal like hulk it will be okay but not now.

    Dodge is a great thing, but it's quite hard to up with the thing., I don't think rely on it for a tank is a good thing, it's secondary, and you have aura from other player which can give you 20%. If you really want dodge, look at fandral but ...

    Second path:


    It's the path that I called RegenThing on the first guide, the principe is you have less hp and defense but slighty more dps (Yeah, I'm sorry but the dps of the first path is still really good) and hp regen. And of course it's still tank not full crit ... even if you can make full crit with the same build. Based on the fact that you have enough defense, hp for anything on the current state of the game.
    You can maxed ground smash by taking points on jagged/the basic and take bold challenge instead of yancy.

    Slot 2 : the thing unique.
    Relics : the same, lemuria. Core : 5% life on hit, +1 strength
    Affixes : full crit
    Uru : +200 physical damage with heartbreaker (+100 crit and brutal strike rating, +1k crit damage and brutal damage)
    Enchant : stone rune and oak rune
    Blessing of hela, your main source of brutal strike, and devastating damage thanks to the huge hp of the thing.

    You can switch [item]247[/item] for the new artifact gem of the kursed (sort of hand of doom) (crit rating, brutal strike rating, crit damage, brutal damage) but beware to not go too far, and become a bad dps and a dps tank ...

    Hero synergy:


    captain america, colossus, hulk, luke cage, spider man, storm, wolverine, cable, thing, nightcrawler



    I know that I provided stats on my last guide, but it really depend of your stuff. I don't think it's good to rely on it.
    Maybe one day I will post a video on the training room. But I gave you guidance, do so and you will see.
    Globally it's monstrous.
    Oh and I'm sorry if you are disturbed because of the change on the guide but it is the same thing presented differently.

    Patch 2.14:
    attack speed 1.9 -> 1.8, nothing change, still cap go to 2.3+
    little mistake on calculating damages, it wasn't 7k (of course :p)
    With the raid incoming, we can really make a full tank build, using the first part of the guid, taking dodge/defense affixes and fandral/volstagg blessing.(maybe more like a tank on mmorpg, kick crit and big damage, full hp, def, dodge, knock down, taunt and therefore change a little bit the build; have to see the raids)
    dodge cap : 70%, don't forget teammates aura which can give you 20-30% dodge.

    UPDATE 2.2 :
    no changes for the thing, I will put best enchant and runeword for the build as soon as I know all of them (now it's done)
    major update for the guide
    (fun fact : today I put 4 visual size increase on my thing. resulting ? Hulk is small)
