thanks for this man, quite useful in xdef.
During a visit to the Persian Gulf to show off the latest Stark Industries weaponry, Tony Stark was captured by the enemy and forced to build a new super weapon. Instead (with the assistance of renowned physicist and fellow prisoner Ho Yinsen) Stark crafted the first version of his now-famous powered battle armor. He soon escaped captivity, though Yinsen gave his life to buy Stark the few extra moments he needed to activate his armor.Marvel Source
Since that day, Stark has lived two lives: one as the playboy industrialist in charge of Stark Industries, and the other as the high-flying golden Avenger known as Iron Man!
Sorry i would have loved to put in all the correct Power Points for a more readable version but the site hasn't been updated so it kept giving me wrong things, hopefully it will be fixed soon and i can edit for appearances.
INTRO
After playing Iron Man for a bit i feel his kit is overwhelmingly simple but keeps a high skill cap with awareness and spirit management. His tour de force is the ability to abuse his . With that in mind my build focusses solely on increasing spirit and spirit management.
I want to be clear this build is mainly for XDef and situations where you aren't the primary focus of the enemy horde, this build maximizes on the teamwork component of being a strong AoE force that has no downtime and just constantly pumps out DPS in a large area. I know some would suggest other more crit/aoe/aoe radius builds and those are fine but i feel Iron Man has a niche and if i wanted to play AoE crit fiend i would roll Punisher. That being said this is my take on a unique way to play Iron Man.
MAX POINTS
Arc Reactor Enhancement: Buffers Spirit pool and gives us our damage modifier that we will rely on heavily to maximum utility.
The One-Off: Possibly the greatest nuke in the entire game, devastatingly wrecks large groups of mobs inside the AoE. Long cooldown but that just makes it so you get use to properly abusing its power.
Wrist Rocket: Good initial damage, followed by strong DoT at a cheap spirit cost makes it so you thread this in when other powers are on CD.
Micro-Missiles: Off GCD damage output can never be overlooked, you burn this everytime it's off CD for more AoE damage that you don't have to control the aim makes it incredibly valuable.
Repulsor Barrage: Now that you have no need for a Basic this is your new left click go to for single target fire.
Jericho Bombardment: Small AoE focus fire damage based DoT, really powerful on boss mobs and clustered units, works really well in XDef if you have a partner to gather up enemies.
ONE POINT WONDERS
Force Shield + Shield Overcharge: This simple combo gives you %Spirit back on a 5 Sec CD so you can continuously spam off AoE.
Adaptive Defenses: Gives you a lot to work with with little cost, HP regen, shield regen and a spike damage on hit.
System Reboot: Some decent defense rating but your after the free revive in those bad situations that can now be overcome.
Missile Control System: Buffer crit rating and proc missile, with gear this builds up to a nice boost for damage.
Some of these points can be removed or allocated into other more feasible buffers like maybe increasing Disruptor Beam but i find that when im going AoE crazy i rarelly use my basic attack since im spamming all the stuff that has a CD. It's really just your choice as to whether or not you find having the Medic is worth it, i will be doing some testing with swapping some points around to maybe put more emphasis on Medic and making my Basic a casual 1 point wonder.
ARTIFACTS
Pretty Generalized in this category.
[item]178[/item] Most Spirit on any artifact in the game. Synergizes with the overall theme of +Spirit to the fullest.
[item]115[/item] Good Spirit Gain and free bonus spirit when you pick up orbs in the midst of the chaos. Also extra particle effect for your looks if you care about that.
[item]247[/item] A Good choice for general survivability, bonus spirit and regen can't hurt, i suggest this for lesser geared players until you afford to lose the hp and regen for more practical choices.
[item]64[/item] When threading your Basic in and abusing the low CD on Micro-Missiles is when this shines the most.
[item]66[/item] This item gives us more durability with a CD you can pop in emergencies, and gives us more activated spirit gain when killing mass units.
[item]59[/item] Must have for the wave 20+ attempts, great item gives you proccing shield that can make or break clearing the wave.
ITEMS
[item]38[/item] Great for general use and keeping spirit pool filled during burst kills.
[item]34[/item] For those looking for more AoE burst, it's a good choice but you limit your sustainability.
[item]33[/item] Pratical for many reasons, the biggest is giving Jericho Bombardment more uptime and the DoT from Wrist Rocket a longer duration. I find that this can possibly be best for those lacking HP or if you find you like the uptime vs the sustain, dealer's choice really both are great for this build.
[item]202[/item] Lacks spirit but is still a solid option for anyone that cant find a good roll on Dr. Doom or Living Laser.
RELIC
[item]188[/item] More Spirit, more Damage Bonus and More Sustainability
[item]214[/item] More AoE damage, lower spirit pool and damage modifier becomes weaker but still a valid option.
[item]190[/item] Some people mess around with this but i figured id mention that i find this pretty bad, the older patches sure this was great but now i think its gone the wayside, just my 2 cents.
AFFIXES
I really like Health Regen on Enemy Defeat, mainly cause this build is XDef, you want to not die and just stay in and keep AoEing until the wave is over, i prefer any of the Defensive over the Offensive.
LEGENDARY
My favorite part of this build is the legendary that is higher overlooked but amazingly synergized with spirit based Iron Man. Of course i'm speaking of M'Kraan Crystal.
THOUGHTS
Leave me any feedback you have. I know there are many other builds out this but i find this one to fit my playstyle.
As for my hotkeys i guess i should mention, i use:
Left Click: Disruptor Beam: the debuff make this the better of the 2 Basics.
Right Click: Wrist Rocket, i pretty much abandon the Basic if i am over 1/2 spirit in between Overcharge CD.
A: Hyper-Velocity Charge
S: Force Shield
D: Shield Overcharge
F: Micro-Missiles
G: The One-Off
Mouse Button 3: Jericho Bombardment
I find Iron Man extremely fun since he's the first hero i've played that has extensive CDs and put his skill cap in my eyes higher than others.
That being said i find this build pretty much makes Iron Man unable to run out of spirit and puts your bonus power through the roof. There are some flaws when it comes to surviving waves 20+ on lvl 60 XDef i will hopefully address those later after i test out some more builds revising this one along the way.
