After rescuing a de-aged Storm from the Shadow King, Gambit was brought back to the X-Mansion where he eventually joined the X-Men. As a mutant, Gambit possesses the ability to convert the potential energy in an object into destructive kinetic energy. Gambit utilizes this power mostly in the form of throwing kinetically charged playing cards which explode on impact, or by super charging his extendable bo staff.Marvel Source
Gambit and his fellow X-Man Rogue have an unsteady relationship, with a nearly equal mix of time together and time apart.
Gear
Slot 1 – Death's Black Staff (Gambit Unique) Damage, damage on melee, attack speed, +to Bo skills, a proc
to destroy an enemy, spirit/health on kill. Very good for our spec (obviously) and worth your time. Get it!
Slot 2 – X-Ternals Mantle (Gambit Unique) Works for what we need. It has some Durability, tanky stats, damage to bosses +Sleight of Hand, +1 all powers. Absolutely a necessity now that the stats on it are really good and Sleight of Hand is an essential part of our survival in level 60 content.
Slot 3 – Blindfold (Gambit Unique) is for hybrid. Look for a cosmic that gives you stats you want, namely health so we're not quite so squishy.
Slot 4 – Marauder Boots (Gambit Unique) aren't...bad for what we're trying to do. We don't use All In or Bo Vault really but we do get a bunch of Dodge and some other decent stats. I'd consider using the Hand Assassin Ninja Tabi for more crit, here, however or Sandals of Hercules for tankiness (any hero Uniques).
Slot 5 – Remy's Playing Cards (Gambit Unique) or the Inficio Aquilus (Gambit Unique). The Aquilus has crit and brutal, making it pretty attractive-but a bunch of procs that are kind of meh. The cards are more built for his kinetic build, but also have good damage rating and crit/brutal. Whichever one you can find works honestly.
Artifacts
Pym Shrinking Serum - We could really use infinite spirit, and the health/dodge is always welcome.
Advanced Kung Fu - We're melee, why not!
Advanced Super Soldier Serum / Advanced Crimson Crystal - We need to make sure we have at least one dedicated tanking artifact besides Kung Fu.
Advanced Meta or Ziggurat of Kargul. We struggle with a lack of crit in our tree, so I like a well-rolled
Zig. Hand of Doom obviously always a possibility.
Other
Blessings: Fandrals might be really good since 12% dodge and 400 crit is awesome. Depends. Helas are fantastic if your crit is already high from other sources.
Costume: +1 Fighting and +1 Strength. Gambit's stats are kind of low so every bit helps.
Insignia: Dat O'Grady.
Legendary: Gungir. Gambit doesn't have a ton of crit, but if you can get it from other sources-go Excalibur for more life on hit and some flat damage/additional crit.
Medallion: Dr. Doom, Kingpin, Kurse, Bullseye - all work
Relics: Lemurias for life on hit.
Uru item: Melee Uru with Bone Breaker as your cheap option or Heart Breaker if you can afford it. The +1 Strength is handy!
Leveling Strategy
Smash things with your staff and use Street Sweeper for AOE at low levels. Once you get Grand Slam the build takes off. We've got plenty of tools in our toolbox, allowing us to lay down some efficient AOE and then spam some even more powerful AOE. If we're running out of spirit, make sure to pick up a Mark of the Odinborn at level 32 or an Asgardian Runestone at 27. Punisher synergy really helps since we murder things fast-but may run out of spirit. Once we get Pyms, its over. Free spirit for life!
Playstyle
A. Cartwheel around because why not?
B. Drop Street Sweeper to lay down some initial damage and damage over time in an area.
C. Grand Slam for tons of mobs, Bo Beatdown for a few.
D. Pop Rajun Cajun for a damage boost or ignore it, its no longer mandatory yay!
E. Make dat gumbo tho.
