wtf stop build the crap

I am using this build minus from a few tweaks, that is that i dropped 2 points from Lightning Step and added them to Crushing blow, the only reason is i find crushing blow very handy when dealing with groups of mobs, allows fast spirit gain which mean i can have a 4 button rotation doing Raging Blow > Crushing Blow > Lightning Crush > Heavy Tackle then repeat, just find this a faster way of applying threat to a group as i am not wasting a GCD getting 3 stacks with a stronger attack Raging Blow, the difference between the damage is tiny anyhow and the quicker CD on lightning step i just don't see as a bonus when most fights its about off CD anyhow.

To what Fantastical has put i would say, its pointless to stack full str or full int they both give the same benefit the only reason i see that this was added as a passive was due to the acolyte first 25 levels, requiring you to stack a stat u dont need just for when you hit 25 is abit of gimp'ed idea, think this was to balance any waste stats put into INT while getting to 25, like i said they both offer the same outcome even if u put 50 str 10 int or 50 int and 10 str the outcome is the same, each point gives 2 att pow and 2 parry. So its not a waste in any shape.

5 points in Protection Ki is needed imo, its the tanks shield wall and u say its too situational but that is the point of a shield wall, it there to offer help to the healers when either the boss is in some sort of semi enrage dealing more damage or a mass spawn of mobs appear and the damage against you is spiking, its not a skill that needs to be on CD all the time but there has been plenty of times it has saved my bacon.

VIT u can argue that, i honestly would stack some, extra HP cant hurt and your a tank survivability over dps at all times even if it is only 200hp, tbh having those stats in str will only offer u an extra 33 att pow which is nothing when weapons are giving u bonus into the 100s with att pow.

Tbh in RO2 stat allocation isnt a massive deal, RO2 is a gear game thats where the majority of ur stats will come from i think a nice spread into ur 2 or 3 main stats is probably the better outcome than stacking just one or stacking ur damaging stats, at the end of the day a tanks role is to get hit and alot if not all the time, being able to add a few more 10s to ur damage isnt helpful to the group, adding a few 10s to your hp is, as it cud be a hit or a tick of a dot the healer dont have to worry about. Also finally you cud argue the extra dps is extra threat but your buff and skill with addition threat (Lightning Crush) will always out threat any move which is set to cause damage.

I want to understand this more, because I plan to go in-depth on this class. I have a fair bit of knowledge on the game (have a level 34 Beastmaster, that I've tanked dungeons over and over on).

It seems to me Monk is a very fun and interesting tank, and the build you've created here is for that purpose?

So please, if I may, have your eyes for a moment, and your time as I try to analyze the Monk and formulate a consensus, as well as theorycraft. Please note, I am not trying to be condescending, or to put it another way, arrogant in my views. I am newer to the game; However arrogant I may seem, I'm only trying to fully understand.

Vit, I see no point--for any class to have points in this, unless it's a few spare. An increase in 6 HP is nothing, and a waste of stat points, in my opinion. It is much better as a passively obtained stat, such as cards and gear. It makes complete sense to focus Vit on cards and gear. You lose a meager 186 HP if you remove all Vit. (More if you factor in %HP increases, which would seem to be 241.8 HP?).

I would like to note, that even though you lose HP, your EHP (effective HP), increases, although, I have no idea how exactly dodge and parry work in this game. I don't even understand these aggro and threat mechanics to be honest lmao. I can have 3x more threat and not have aggro, sometimes even after a taunt I can't steal aggro or keep it.

Int, I have no way of knowing what Int gives a monk, other than 2 power. If that is all, then is it not better to place points in Str instead? It seems as though that Monk skill, that makes Int give 2 power, is for gear and cards. A bonus to Monks--passive power.

Str, without a doubt the best stat for almost every class. Anyone that can benefit, I feel, should max it as much as possible. Not only does it give power, it gives mitigation.

Agi, I would take this over Vit, while I think it's a toss up between Str and Agi, gaining more dodge to add increased mitigation, and make that stat more useful when you have it on gear--seems important. Added bonus of critical chance.

The way you have skills looks good to me, I agree with most, except Protection Ki. 5 points so that you may reduce 50% of incoming damage for 10 seconds, every 2 minutes? Might as well throw those points elsewhere, I think anywhere is better than such a long cooldown 10 second buff. It's too situational. Even if you manage to use it to it's fullest potential, is there need to reduce such damage? Is end-game that hard where you must mitigate damage every 2 minutes?

Hope you understand that I only want to learn. I want to be a great Monk. And I want you to help me, I respect your knowledge, and would like insight on my thoughts.

PS: If only such theorycrafting could be tested. As far as I see it, you could infact test stat builds against a high DPS class in a duel, but alas, we must spend $ to change builds.

It does more damage, Crushing Blow is only useful for building Spirit..

Why did you choose raging blow over crushing blow?
