Edit (for patch on 1/16/14) - This build no longer viable because Tier 4 Flak cannon no longer deflects during channel. Tier 4 Quick Burst also no longer casts without activating global cooldown.

This build sacrifices a bit of damage for a lot of longevity. Because of an obvious lack of mobility, the Engineer is meant to substitute this disadvantage with greater armor, defense, etc. I think a PVP damage engineer ought to embrace that more defensive, die-hard mindset. It keeps damage abilities simple so that you can incorporate more control/utility abilities, which is itself a huge part of defense in PVP.

I think it is worth mentioning that this is NOT a tank build, per se. It gives you a good amount of deflect and plenty of control, but you will be gearing for damage, crit, etc. and you will be in DPS stance.

    The (very simple) Rotation

The bread & butter of this build is Flak Cannon and Electrocute. Tier 4 Electrocute reduces the volatility cost to 6 per tick, which happens to be exactly the volatility generation of Flak Cannon. So the very simple rotation is to alternate between the two and cast Quick Burst whenever it is up. Teir 4 Quick Burst takes it off the global cooldown, meaning it will not interrupt the alternation between Flak Cannon and Electrocute.

Flak Cannon is a 1.2 second cast the first time, but as long as you cast it again within 8 seconds, it's only a .6 second cast time. So you end up waiting .6 seconds of not channeling damage every 6 seconds.

When Mech Suit (innate) is cast, Electrocute is a great sustained damage volatility dump that you can cast non-stop for the duration, again throwing in a Quick Burst when it procs.

    Defensiveness

The difference between most dps PVP builds and this one is the defensive extras you get. Tier 4 Flak Cannon gives you 45% deflect while you're casting it, which is roughly half of the time. Tier 4 Bruiser Bot gives you an innate 25% deflect. So when casting Flak Cannon, you have 70% deflect up. This is meant for tanking, obviously, but it will reduce incoming damage substantially in PVP, meaning you are sturdier, allowing you to outlast your opponents and get more kills per death.

Bruiser Bot also provides a nice defensive cooldown of 8 seconds at 25% reduced damage. The bot is there mostly for the deflect, but this added defensive cooldown is icing on the cake.

    Control

There are really only 3 attack abilities in this build. It is much more heavily leaning toward CC and escapes.

    CCs

Your CCs are Zap (stun) and Obstructor (interrupt and blind). Obstructor is Tier 4, so both of these CCs destroy an interrupt armor. Urgent Withdrawal also has a snare, so it is both a CC and escape.

    Escapes

Your escapes are Shatter Impairment, which breaks all CC and gives you 10% crit (so this could be used during times when burst damage is needed), and Urgent Withdrawal.

    Optional

I would have liked to include Diminisher Bot, but I simply ran out of room in the LAS, and already had a snare in Urgent Withdrawal. But you could easily replace pretty much any of the CC/escapes and replace it with Diminisher Bot if you wanted.

    AMPs

I think it's fairly self-explanatory, but it caters mostly to offense in PVP, including a bit of the utility tree for some health regen, etc. The focus is on PVP offensive damage, crit rating, and crit severity.

The only thing that might change your play style is 'Extra Hurtin' at the top of the Assault tree, which gives 30% crit severity when volatility is over 60%. This means it's a good idea to spam Flak Cannon until max volatility, then start alternating between it and Electrocute. Mech Suit (innate) will max out your volatility by default, so you will have 30% crit severity pretty much the entire duration.

Thanks for reading, and comments are welcome!
