At the moment I only pretty much play a stalker tank. I really love this class for tanking, its fast, the threat is really nice and survivability is good too.
There are a lot of people complaining that Stalker tanks are very squishy. I do not disagree but they are meant to be. The idea of a stalker tank is they move out of crap. They are the most agile tank out there for a reason. They are the hardest tank to play as you have a lot less room for mistakes unlike the warrior and engineer tank. I find this type of tank fast and fun to play.
Here are the reason why I use this setup:
- I don't use punish for the damage, I use it for when I am low on suit power (normally under 30%). this is so when i have no suit power left and I need to get a quick Nano Field in for the heals/healing buff. Remember it can only be used after critting tho so can be a little unreliable but the ability called Steadfast helps with this.
- This one is simple, nothing special. It is so I can hold threat. Use this as your main ability
- This is a really nice ability. This can only be used after deflecting an attack but for a 10s duration this is not a problem keeping up. I have maxed it out on Ability points so not only I generate 10 suit power but also my support power is increased by 25% for 10s. This means you hit harder and your support abilities are stronger. Also as a added bonus it puts a debuff on up to 5 enemies that reduces the damage they do by 18% for 10s
- This one I typically use just before using Decimate. It increases your chance to defect an attack by 60%. I use the before decimate just to make sure Decimate is available as soon as possible. It also restores 15 suit power.
- This is your taunt for up to 10 targets all around you in a large AoE. Best to make sure you have this available before every pull just to make sure that trigger happy DPS does not die (there is always one). This is also a very nice damaging ability. If you know you can use this and still have it available before next pull you might as well use it it is one of your most damaging abilities.

- In place of razor storm you can use Reaver, this is a fairly narrow 5 enemy taunt. Reaver is essentially weaker than Razor Storm but has a significantly lower CD so is great for trash if your killing them fast. Also if the fight is very AoE damaging to your group Reaver can be used to lower group damage by 25% for 4s but this damage reduction does not apply to yourself.
- This is great for getting into the fight as you pull. Makes for a easy fast pull and also great for getting out of large telegraphs also. Just be careful as your healer might not see you zip off.
-- In place of pounce you can use
. This is a light damaging ability that hits up to 5 enemies and stuns them for 2.5s but the main thing you want with this is it removes 1 interrupt armour. The reason you don't always need this is because an ability I will get too called Collapse.
- This is a powerful ability for the stalker tank. This is a constant AoE light damage that can be kept up near 100% of the time and this is what you will spend your suit power on. For the damage it does it has a 25% life steal too it but also while active it increases all healing you receive by 8%.
On 3+ enemies, if you are taking a lot of damage and your healing is struggling to keep you alive, dump your suit power and spam this ability. for every 2nd press it does a significant amount of damage and returns 100% of the damage to you as health.
Finally what makes this more awesome is it is not on GCD with your other abilities
- This destroys 1 interrupt armor on enemies but also pulls up to 3 of the furthest enemies to you which are within 12m
When it comes to stats you want to stack Grit/base health so you have around 30,000 health and enough Support Power/Tech to hold aggro and then start stacking Insight as this is your deflect
